In line with this focus and due to the challenging current economic climate, we undertook our first inside ICT Survey in April 2009. Due to the interesting insights that sprung from that survey and its clear value, we have subsequently embedded it into our annual delivery plan. The 2010 survey approach was honed to focus specifically on technology vendors and we added some additional questions to encompass what we perceived to be some topical talent issues. Over 350 technology business leaders were polled across Auckland and Wellington during May 2010 to glean these results. When I first arrived at my new role I had been out of the corporate market for over 3 months and I was struggling to get my rhythm. After the first couple of weeks I had my first session with Peter who, thankfully, managed to help me open my eyes to how to be the best person to do the job I had been recruited for. Secondly, again from Peter’s expertise, he found a way for me to re-evaluate what I was doing which resulted in me getting greater traction in my new role.
