Role snapshot:
This role will see you will drive and lead specific data and insights functions for the business, allowing you free reign to deliver actionable and measurable guidance for internal and external clients. You will work your magic on large multifaceted and unstructured datasets using a range of data science techniques to better understand specific energy markets. Often this will involve forecasting the underlying drivers of a commodity's price, but more basic ad hoc analyses will also be required.
Day to day you will build and maintain models to forecast commodity prices and their drivers, prepare datasets for analysis, perform ad hoc analyses to support the Portfolio Manager, build and maintain dashboards and communicate insights from analysis. With the existing team working largely from home the majority of the time, you will be offered true autonomy so you must be self motivated and enjoy your work over a thriving office culture.
To be successful you will need:
2- 5 years commercial experience in data science, complex statistical analysis or modelling
Demonstrable expertise building, maintaining and enhancing statistical/data science models
Post-graduate qualification in a quantitative subject, ideally statistics or data science
Expert in at least one data science programming language ideally R, however Python, SAS, etc... will be considered
Excellent SQL capability
Exceptional academic record and GPA
A self confessed statistical boffin, along with an exceptionally strong numeric ability
Academically inclined but be commercial savvy and results driven
Strong communication skills and ability to explain your work and findings to non technical stakeholders
