About the role

We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Senior PMO Lead to join a significant public sector transformation programme. This is a senior leadership role where you will be responsible for leading Programme Management Office functions across a large, multi-year reform programme that aims to improve public safety outcomes and regulatory effectiveness.

This role sits within a centralised transformation office and will work across several complex workstreams, engaging with programme leaders, internal stakeholders, and governance groups to provide strategic coordination, assurance, and delivery oversight.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading PMO services across a multi-workstream transformation programme
  
  
• Coordinating governance activities including secretariat functions, agenda setting, and quality assurance of papers
  
  
• Providing independent monitoring and evaluation of programme performance and reporting to senior stakeholders
  
  
• Supporting project methodology standards and ensuring best practice in documentation, risk management, and reporting
  
  
• Managing a small team and supporting resource onboarding, allocation, and development
  
  
• Overseeing programme-level budget tracking and reporting (CAPEX and OPEX)
  
  
• Coordinating Gateway Reviews and Independent Quality Assurance (IQA) processes
  
  

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years’ experience leading PMO functions at a senior level within large, complex public sector environments
  
  
• Strong understanding of programme governance, risk, and assurance frameworks
  
  
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, and resource planning across multiple workstreams
  
  
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups
  
  
• Excellent communication, planning, and coordination skills
  
  
• Familiarity with project and change methodologies such as PRINCE2, MSP, or PROSCI
