Service Technician - PC & Windows Imaging
About the role
Service Technician – POS & Hardware Build | Hands-On Workshop Role
Build it. Fix it. Ship it.
If you like working with real hardware, not just remote tickets, this one is for you.
We’re looking for a hands-on Service Technician to join a busy technical workshop supporting POS systems, NUCs, PCs, and peripherals used across retail and commercial environments. This role is practical and bench focused. You’ll be building, imaging, repairing, upgrading, and preparing devices for deployment into the field. This is an on-site, workbench-based role. Working from home is not available. You’ll be in the workshop, on the tools, working directly with devices every day.
You will spend your time on real equipment, real faults, and real outcomes. Devices come in broken or unconfigured and leave ready to deploy. Speed matters, but quality matters more. If you enjoy pulling machines apart, diagnosing faults, rebuilding systems, and getting hardware back into the field fast, you’ll feel at home here.
What you’ll be doing
- Build, assemble, and upgrade POS PCs, NUCs, and desktop hardware
- Perform disk imaging using tools such as Norton Ghost or Macrium Reflect
- Image and deploy operating systems and standard software packages
- Run repeatable, standardised PC build and configuration processes
- Diagnose hardware faults and isolate component failures

- Maintain accurate asset and build records
- Complete clear service documentation and job notes
- Work to turnaround targets and workshop quality standards
- Proven hands-on experience with PC builds and hardware repairs
- Strong experience with disk imaging tools such as Norton Ghost or Macrium Reflect
- Strong hardware troubleshooting and fault isolation skills
- Solid Windows installation and configuration capability
- Comfortable working with BIOS and UEFI settings
- Confidence working with tools and components inside devices
- Ability to follow build and repair procedures consistently
- Detail focused with good documentation habits
- Practical, workshop-first mindset and team attitude
Nice to have
- Experience with MDT, SCCM, or similar deployment tooling
- Basic networking knowledge
- POS or retail technology exposure
- CompTIA A+ or similar certification
- Experience working in a technical workshop or staging environment
- Why this role Proper hands-on technical work every day
- Steady pipeline of build and repair activity
- Structured workshop processes and standards
- Supportive technical team that values craft and quality
- Real impact on devices going into the field
- Clear expectations and measurable outcomes
