Hardware Manager (Electronics + Mechanical)
About the role
Why you would like it:
- Lead two established engineering teams (electronics + mechanical)
- Drive modernisation across hardware and automation platforms
- Own compliance, testing and certification for global markets
- Hybrid working, Hamilton-based
- Real influence on product integration and reliability in the field
The opportunity:
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys bringing order to complex systems. You’ll step into an environment with strong capability in place (embedded software, testing, mechanical engineering and a platform project lead) and help align the moving parts — especially where control systems and platform components have grown independently over time.
Your focus: build a cohesive hardware/software roadmap alongside the Software Architect, lift engineering standards, and ensure products meet the compliance and certification requirements needed to trade globally. If you’re experienced in industrial automation and embedded controls — and you like developing people as much as products — this one has plenty of runway.
Company profile:
An established product-led organisation designing and supporting industrial machinery used in demanding, real-world environments. Engineering quality, reliability, and safety matter here — as does building practical solutions that can be manufactured, supported, and scaled.
The role:
- Lead two teams: electronics (embedded/software/test) and mechanical engineering
- Provide technical direction, coaching, and performance leadership
- Improve integration and communication across hardware + software components
- Set engineering standards for design, development, and lifecycle maintenance
- Own testing strategy, certification, and ongoing compliance requirements
- Develop durability and reliability testing suited to harsh operating environments
- Run resourcing and prioritisation against business goals and delivery timelines
- Partner closely with manufacturing, supply chain, support, sales, and product stakeholders
- Proactively manage risk, safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Background in electronics or mechanical engineering (degree preferred)
- Proven people leadership across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Deep experience in industrial automation, controls, and embedded systems
- Strong understanding of compliance and certification for industrial machinery
- Comfortable balancing technical depth with prioritisation and stakeholder management
- Clear communicator who can align teams, resolve conflict, and keep delivery moving
- Practical, improvement-minded, and calm when the problems are complex
If you’re keen to lead both the people and the technical direction — and leave hardware platforms in a better place than you found them — apply now.
