About the role

Why you would like it

  • Be accountable for the strategic direction, governance, and delivery of an enterprise data platform
  • Set standards and guardrails that actually stick
  • Lead a small, capable data engineering team

The Opportunity
This role is about creating a data platform that people can rely on, for reporting, analytics, and responsible AI use. You’ll take ownership of the enterprise Databricks platform: setting a multi-year roadmap, defining architecture standards and putting governance in place so data products are consistent, discoverable, and safe to use.

A key focus is the structured migration from a legacy on-prem data warehouse, balancing continuity with clear modernisation. You’ll work closely with cyber-security and digital governance, manage vendor relationships, and keep an eye on platform consumption and cost. It’s a hands-on leadership role with real influence across the organisation.

Company Profile
A large, values-led organisation with a strong public-facing mission and complex data needs. You’ll be joining a team that’s focused on lifting data maturity, enabling trusted insights, and building a sustainable foundation for analytics and AI.

The Role
  • Own the platform strategy, roadmap, and architectural standards
  • Establish and enforce governance for datasets, exposure and lifecycle
  • Lead migration planning and delivery from legacy warehouse to Databricks
  • Guide platform engineering practices, patterns and re-usable components
  • Lead and mentor a team
  • Partner with cyber-security/digital governance on controls and risk
  • Manage demand, priorities and expectations with senior stakeholders

Your Fit
  • Experience in senior roles owning/governing data/analytics platforms
  • Strong Databricks knowledge and modern lakehouse concepts
  • Proven experience running or guiding large-scale data migrations
  • Comfortable setting standards in complex stakeholder environments
  • Pragmatic leadership style: structured, calm, and delivery-focused
  • Good grasp of governance, risk, and safe data exposure for AI use
  • Relevant degree (or equivalent experience); certs are a bonus

If you’re keen to shape the direction of an enterprise data platform and bring others with you, apply now.
