About the role

Why you would like it:

  • Hands-on build work across apps and integrations
  • Modern integration stack (Azure Integration Services)
  • Variety: APIs, ETL/ELT, middleware and production support
  • Strong focus on secure-by-design delivery

Company Profile:

Potentia is proud to be partnering with Aurora Energy.

Aurora Energy is one of the largest electricity networks in Aotearoa New Zealand, delivering power across some of the most diverse terrain in the South Island. The growth of electrification is changing how energy is used - from electric vehicles to solar generation. Aurora Energy continues to grow, with a strong and highly regarded culture that sets it apart.

The Opportunity:

This role sits in the core systems team where you’ll design, build, test and support business applications and integrations that keep critical services running. You’ll work across internal systems, third-party platforms and APIs, with a practical focus on reliable delivery, good documentation, and thoughtful change management. Security isn’t an afterthought here - expect to bake it into how you develop, integrate and support. If you enjoy mixing development with integration work (and like getting things shipped, not just discussed), this is a good fit.

Based in Dunedin, offering outdoors-first lifestyle with a real community feel - beaches, tracks and the Otago Peninsula are close, the commute is straightforward, and the city punches above its weight for food, culture and sport. It’s a great place to build a career without giving up your time.

The Role
  • Design, develop, test and deploy business applications
  • Use AI-assisted dev tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to lift delivery speed and quality
  • Design and implement integrations across systems and third-party platforms
  • Build and support APIs (REST/SOAP/GraphQL as required)
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines and middleware components
  • Work within an Azure Integration Services environment
  • Provide L3/production support and help resolve incidents efficiently
  • Manage change: documentation, release activities, and stakeholder comms
  • Contribute to secure-by-design practices and standards

Your Fit
  • Experience in application development (one or more of Python, Java, C#, JS/TS)
  • Solid grasp of OOP and common design patterns
  • Comfortable with web fundamentals (HTML/CSS/JS) and a framework (.NET/React/Angular/Vue)
  • Experience with analysis/design/specification work (systems or business analysis)
  • Practical integration experience: APIs, data movement, and troubleshooting
  • You communicate clearly, collaborate well, and take ownership of outcomes
  • Nice to have: Microsoft/Azure certifications, DevOps exposure, Azure Integration Services, utilities/energy sector experience
