The Opportunity 

A modern cloud data platform is already in place, and the focus now is on getting the most from it: improving reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and the overall experience for data users across the organisation.

As the Senior Data Platform Engineer, you’ll stay hands-on in Databricks and the Azure ecosystem — enhancing pipelines and data products, strengthening operational practices, and embedding pragmatic engineering standards. Just as importantly, you’ll help grow capability in the team through mentoring, pairing and constructive technical guidance.

If you enjoy maturing production data platforms and you like lifting developing others while delivering, this is a strong fit.

 The Role

•  Evolve and optimise an established data platform 
•  Build and enhance data pipelines and reusable data products in Databricks/Azure
•  Lift engineering practices: testing, CI/CD, release discipline, documentation
•  Improve observability and production support 
•  Support fit-for-purpose data modelling
•  Work closely with stakeholders to translate needs into deliverable outcomes
•  Coach and mentor junior engineers through reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing

 Your Fit

•  Proven senior experience in data engineering / BI engineering / software engineering
•  Strong hands-on Databricks + Azure experience (or similar eg. close equivalents Snowflake, AWS, GCP or Fabric)
•  Solid Python and SQL; Spark experience is highly useful
•  Comfortable supporting and improving production-grade data services
•  CI/CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub) and IaC (Bicep/Terraform) experience desirable
•  Practical communicator who enjoys mentoring and uplifting others
•  Comfortable working through ambiguity in a transformation environment
