About the role

GROUP CYBERSECURITY MANAGER

PGG Wrightson (PGW) is a leading provider of products and services to New Zealand’s agricultural and horticultural sectors, helping to grow the country through its knowledge, service and expertise.
PGW has recently refreshed its Technology Strategy and Investment Roadmap, building on the progress already made in modernising its technology foundations. The business is now investing in multiple new roles to support the next phase of its technology transformation. These roles will strengthen how PGW delivers for its people and customers, and ensure technology remains tightly aligned to the overall business strategy.
Senior technology leaders will be instrumental in shaping the future of technology at PGW. This is an opportunity to help set strategic direction, mature the operating model, lift critical capability, and drive sustainable, enterprise-wide digital engagement. PGW is looking for leaders who are passionate about change, can embed effective ways of working, foster a strong culture, and ensure the Group Technology function operates as a connected, high performing team.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Group Cyber Security Manager to lead PGW’s cyber capability, safeguard our systems and data, and embed security by design across the full technology lifecycle.
Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership for cyber security across PGG Wrightson. You will be accountable for strengthening cyber resilience, uplifting governance and risk management, and ensuring security is built into our platforms, processes and behaviours.
You will lead a specialist cyber security team, work closely with senior leaders and Group Technology peers, and act as a trusted advisor on cyber risk, security posture and threat management across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and lead PGW’s cyber security strategy and operating model
  • Protect PGW’s systems, data and digital assets from evolving threats
  • Embed security by design into technology delivery and operations
  • Provide clear, credible advice to executives on cyber risk and resilience
  • Establish robust governance, policies and security standards
  • Lead security operations, including monitoring, incident response and remediation
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing cyber security team
  • Drive organisation-wide security awareness and safe practices
About you
You are an experienced cyber security leader with strong technical depth and a commercial, risk-aware mindset. You’re confident engaging at executive level, shaping decisions, and turning complex security issues into clear, actionable guidance. You bring:
  • Significant experience in cyber security leadership roles within complex environments
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, risk management and compliance obligations
  • A track record in designing and implementing enterprise security strategies
  • Experience leading and developing specialist security teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • A pragmatic, business-focused approach to managing cyber risk
Experience in large, operationally complex and regulated organisations will be highly regarded.

Why work for us
Our people have access to a wide range of corporate benefits, including staff discounts, flu vaccinations, discounted medical insurance and our Occupational Counselling Programme (OCP).
We’re proud of the strong sense of belonging across PGG Wrightson – whether you’re in the field, in a branch, or in a support office. When you join us, you become part of a business with a long history, strong values, and a genuine commitment to helping grow the country together.

About us
At PGG Wrightson, we are committed to growing our people through technical development and leadership opportunities, offering a rewarding and meaningful career within the rural sector.
