About the role

Job Summary
Own the reliability of global production systems for a Christchurch-based team. This is a hands-on operations role with end-to-end responsibility across monitoring/observability, AWS operations, CI/CD and structured releases, incident response, and internal tooling. This is for someone who’s happiest keeping production stable, measurable, and improving every week. If you’re the kind of operator who prevents issues through strong observability, tight change control, and calm incident leadership, you’ll have plenty of scope here.

A Christchurch-based, fast-moving technology team building networked systems that connect remote equipment and critical infrastructure across the globe. You’ll be working in a practical, engineering-led environment with international customers, where outcomes matter, ownership is expected, and operational discipline is valued as the platform scales.

The Role
-Own the operational reliability of production systems end-to-end, ensuring they meet defined performance and availability targets.. 
-Design and run safe, repeatable release and deployment processes for containerised applications, including CI/CD pipeline design, upgrades, and rollback/recovery. 
-Monitor system health across global environments, continuously improving observability (metrics, logs, alerting) to speed up incident diagnosis. 
-Build and maintain internal dashboards that show system health, usage, and emerging risks. 
-Detect, triage, diagnose, and resolve incidents/outages.
-Establish and maintain runbooks, response procedures, and crisis/incident management plans to ensure consistent, predictable operations. 
-Operate AWS-based infrastructure using automated provisioning and infrastructure-as-code approaches.

Your Fit
-5+ years of professional experience in operations, devops, infrastructure, SRE, or related roles
-Bachelor's Degree in related field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, etc) preferred
-Strong, hands-on production experience in AWS environments
-Solid CI/CD pipeline design and ongoing management
-Strong monitoring/observability background (metrics/logs/tracing/alerting)
-Confident with Docker and containerised deployments
-Proven incident diagnosis and resolution experience
-Must have valid NZ work authorization to be considered for the role
