Joining a team of three other data scientists you will be instrumental in helping gain an in depth understanding of customers and the wider utilities markets. While the data science practice will initially work with the retail and customer component of the business, successful outcomes from this work will open up future opportunities across multiple other business units ripe for transformation.

Role snapshot:

You will bring a strong background in your technical field combined with experience in supporting the application of data science models in a commercial context. Joining an existing analytics and data science team you will never be short of an opportunity to collaborate and bounce ideas off others. It goes without saying that you'll be the type who thrives on staying up to date with the latest in relevant technology trends. 

On the day to day you will utilise your capability across mathematics and statistics to derive key insights across various parts of the business contributing to the company's strategy. You will work on complex data sets from some of their largest data science initiatives working on the enhancement and maintenance of models including customer segmentation, customer profitability, churn propensity and customer lifetime value models.

To achieve this, you'll work closely with stakeholders and internal teams across data analysis, data engineering and the wider IT department while also collaborating with third parties providing outsourced data, modelling and analytics. 


To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Data science skillset (2+ years) with proven technical ability

  • Commercial business-facing project experience

  • Experience in applying data science methods to business problems

  •  Strong presentation and communication skills, explaining complex analytical concepts to people from non-technical fields.

  • Strong programming experience in Python and SQL. SAS experience beneficial 

  • Experience and interest in Cloud platforms

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to present and able to clearly communicate complex solutions with the business
