Data Centre Manager
About the role
The Opportunity:
Step into a high-impact leadership role overseeing a critical colocation data centre in Takanini. This position offers the chance to lead operational performance, safety, and compliance for a facility supporting government and hyperscale customers.
As the site lead, you'll coordinate all on-site functions (engineering, operations, security, and support) to deliver a safe, reliable, and compliant environment. While there are no direct reports, you'll provide essential site-wide coordination, escalation leadership, and operational oversight that protects both the facility's integrity and the organisation's reputation.
The Role:
- Provide overall site leadership and coordination across all on-site teams and activities
- Ensure facility standards, operational oversight, and critical infrastructure performance (power, cooling, environmental systems)
- Lead major incident response and escalation, ensuring timely recovery and clear communication
- Promote and uphold a robust health, safety, and compliance culture (ISO, SOC, NZISM) across all teams and vendors
- Maintain comprehensive visibility and proactive management of operational, technical, and environmental risks
- Act as a key interface for hyperscale and government customers and internal stakeholders
- Oversee high-risk or complex changes and activities, ensuring appropriate planning, coordination, and risk controls
- Proven leadership experience in critical environments (data centres, utilities, or infrastructure)
- Strong understanding of data centre operations and/or engineering (MEP environments)
- Demonstrated ability to lead major incident response and crisis management effectively
- Experience working with high-value enterprise, government, or hyperscale customers
- Strong knowledge of health & safety, risk management, and compliance frameworks
- The ability to lead and influence across multiple functions without direct line authority
- A calm, decisive leadership style, especially under pressure
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact within a critical infrastructure environment. You'll be entrusted with ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and compliance in a facility that genuinely matters.
