About the role

PGG Wrightson (PGW) is a leading provider of products and services to New Zealand’s agricultural and horticultural sectors, helping to grow the country through its knowledge, service and expertise and have been working alongside New Zealand farmers and growers for over 175 years.

They have recently refreshed its Technology Strategy and Investment Roadmap, building on the progress already made in modernising its technology foundations. The business is now investing in multiple new roles to support the next phase of its technology transformation. These roles will strengthen how PGW delivers for its people and customers, and ensure technology remains tightly aligned to the overall business strategy.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced architecture professional to provide technical leadership across PGG Wrightson's technology landscape, helping shape the technical direction of the Group Technology roadmap and ensuring technology decisions support business priorities.

This is a permanent opportunity based in Christchurch or Dunedin. Successful candidates will be based in one of these locations.

Working closely with senior leaders, business stakeholders and Group Technology, you'll provide architectural guidance across business applications, data, integration and technology platforms. You'll be the technical go-to for architecture decisions, helping select the right solutions, balancing business needs with technical considerations, and ensuring technology is scalable, secure and fit for purpose.
You'll also evaluate new technologies and platforms, including AI capabilities, while helping maximise the value of established technologies such as Dynamics 365 and Power Platform.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own PGG Wrightson’s digital roadmap and delivery approach
• Align digital initiatives with enterprise strategy and business priorities
• Lead portfolio prioritisation, sequencing and benefits realisation
• Provide strong governance, risk management and visibility of delivery
• Build and develop delivery, architecture and service design capability
• Strengthen business engagement and reduce shadow IT
• Champion user centred, outcome focused digital delivery

 
About you
You're an architect with a practical approach to technology and a track record of guiding technical decisions across complex environments. Comfortable operating at senior stakeholder level, you're able to influence technical direction, balance business needs with sound technical judgement, and bring others on the journey. You'll bring:

• Experience shaping enterprise or solution architecture across complex technology environments
• Strong understanding of enterprise applications, integration, cloud platforms and modern architecture practices
• Experience developing technology roadmaps and guiding technology investment decisions
• Confidence engaging with executive and senior business stakeholders, influencing outcomes and setting realistic expectations
• Experience with Microsoft technologies, ideally including Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure
• A pragmatic, business-focused approach to selecting technology solutions and driving continuous improvement

Experience in large, operationally complex organisations will be highly regarded.
