We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead who enjoys a mix of technical leadership, hands-on development and people leadership.
You’ll join a product-focused technology environment where engineering has a real influence on what gets built and how it gets delivered. You’ll be responsible for a small team of 3-4 Senior Developers, helping them solve complex problems, make good technical decisions and continue to grow.
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your days removed from the technology. You’ll still be involved in the code, architecture and technical discussions, while providing the leadership and direction the team needs.
The opportunity You’ll have plenty of variety in the role, including:
- Leading and supporting a team of experienced Senior Developers
- Contributing to software development and technical design
- Making decisions around architecture, engineering practices and tooling
- Working closely with Product and Design to turn ideas into great products
- Helping the team prioritise, plan and deliver effectively
- Improving the way the team develops, tests and releases software
- Supporting system reliability, performance, security and scalability
- Identifying opportunities to use AI and new technology to work smarter
- Coaching engineers and creating an environment where people can do their best work
You’ll understand that developing a product isn’t just about writing good code. It’s about creating software that is reliable, intuitive and delivers a great experience for the people actually using it.
You’ll also bring:
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or managing software engineers
- Strong commercial software development experience
- The ability to remain hands-on and contribute technically
- Experience working closely with Product, Design and other stakeholders
- Good understanding of modern software architecture and engineering practices
- A practical approach to solving problems and making decisions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to bring people with you
- Experience working with cloud platforms, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code
- Experience with technologies such as React, Ruby on Rails and AWS, or similar
- An interest in applying AI to improve engineering productivity
You’ll have the autonomy to make a difference, work alongside experienced engineers and help shape both the product and the way the engineering team operates.
