About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Information Architect to lead a short-term information management discovery project within a complex organisation. You’ll be brought in to make sense of a large and varied information landscape, understand how information is currently structured and managed, and help shape a practical future state.

This is a 3-month contract starting ASAP, and the successful candidate will need to be based in Christchurch for the duration of the assignment.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading discovery across information held in different sites, repositories and systems
• Mapping where key information lives, how it is structured and how different sources relate to each other
• Identifying duplication, gaps, ownership issues, access challenges and opportunities to improve findability
• Working with stakeholders to understand how information is created, used, managed and maintained
• Bringing information from different sources together to create a clear view of the current landscape
• Defining practical information architecture, structures and management principles
• Translating findings into clear requirements and recommendations for the future state

What we’re looking for:

• Strong experience in Information Architecture, Information Management or a closely related discipline
• Proven experience analysing complex information or documentation environments
• Experience assessing and structuring information across multiple repositories, sites or systems
• Strong understanding of information architecture, including metadata, taxonomy, classification and content structures
• Practical experience with SharePoint and Microsoft 365 document management
• Understanding of information ownership, permissions, lifecycle and governance
• Strong ability to run discovery, workshops and stakeholder interviews and turn findings into clear recommendations
• Someone who is analytical and methodical but also pragmatic and able to work independently
• Must have valid NZ work authorisation
