About the role

Why you would like it:

  • 6-month contract with possible extension
  • Auckland North Shore location, hybrid working with 3 days in the office
  • Senior-level data engineering role across Snowflake, DBT and Power BI
  • Meaningful work shaping standards, patterns and data product quality
Deliverables / Purpose:

This role suits a senior contractor who can get productive quickly, work well with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and bring structure to complex data environments.

You’ll lead ingest discovery conversations with system owners, application vendors, digital services, business owners and the data ingest team. A key part of the role is helping select the right approved ingest pattern, then working with networking and infrastructure teams to enable the required connectivity and capability.

You’ll also design, build and maintain well-governed data pipelines and models on Snowflake, using Qlik Replicate, DBT, Power BI and related documentation tools. Beyond your own delivery, you’ll contribute to senior engineering discussions, review technical work, and help lift the quality of how data products are built and maintained.

The skills and experience we need you to bring:
  • Significant commercial experience as a Senior Data Engineer or Integration Specialist
  • Strong hands-on Snowflake experience, including modelling, performance, cost optimisation, security and access control
  • Strong DBT experience across models, tests, macros, documentation and deployment practices
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex transformation and tuning
  • Experience with Qlik Replicate or similar ingestion tooling
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, including datasets, semantic models, DAX fundamentals and report publishing
  • Solid understanding of data lifecycle concepts: governance, quality, lineage, security, retention and archival
  • Working knowledge of networking basics, particularly connectivity
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture and solution design fundamentals
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to influence decisions and explain technical concepts plainly

  • Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the office
