As a Business Intelligence Specialist you will be instrumental in helping develop and support new systems and BI solutions ensuring that these can be used to gain an in depth understanding of customers and the wider utilities markets. You will work in a team whose remit stretches across multiple business units, exposing you new project driven work and taking ownership of the existing environment.

Role snapshot:

Bringing an exceptional background in your field this role will see you carry out technical development work including developing and maintaining custom code and providing a quality assurance function. You will respond to emergencies, support ongoing system enhancements and provide review and knowledge transfer for code and system design. On the day to day this will include data preparation, warehousing, ETL, reporting, analytics, data exploration and information delivery.

To achieve this, you'll liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders working closely with internal teams across a range of data activities (think analysis, engineering and the wider IT team). Joining the existing BI team you will never be short of an opportunity to collaborate and bounce ideas off others and with numerous transformation projects ahead the opportunities to learn and further your skills particularly in development and data engineering will be frequent.


To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Senior Business Intelligence skillset (4+ years) 

  • Highly capable in SQL development/support and extremely competent using SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and Power BI

  • Experienced in data preparation, reporting, warehousing, ETL and analytics 

  • Experienced working with large corporate/enterprise systems

  • Experience in and understanding of a wide variety of analytical processes (governance, measurement, etc.)

  • A solid understanding of key BI trends and best practice 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to present and able to clearly communicate complex solutions with the business

  • Experience liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders
