Company profile:

The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation is an innovative, award-winning global investor. Our primary role is to manage the NZ Super Fund, an investment fund which invests taxpayer contributions globally to help pre-fund universal superannuation in New Zealand. Our team has a deep sense of purpose through the work we do to benefit future generations of New Zealanders. At the Guardians there’s an energy, passion and a shared commitment to excellence. The work is complex, innovative and intellectually stimulating. Our positive work environment respects your wellbeing while supporting your career and your future. As a proud equal opportunity employer, inclusiveness and diversity are highly valued.

The opportunity:

The Applications Development team is responsible for our investment-related data and technology services. We deliver the tools and data required to ensure that our investment-related data can be trusted, understood and traced, while creating and maintaining high quality decision support tools.

A recent review of the Applications Development team has led to the creation of a newly designated Technical Support team, which sits between the business and the development team. The team will manage level 2 support and some level 1, when required. In time, the role is expected to contribute to level 3 enhancements. Leading this small team will be the newly created Manager, Investment Applications Technical Support, who will be involved in recruiting another supporting team member.

Key responsibilities:

This is a great opportunity for a passionate problem solver, who thrives on troubleshooting complex, data-heavy applications. You will engage directly with “the customer” and your peers (Developers, Testers and Business Analysts) to ensure issues are understood and resolved.

Your key responsibilities would include:

  • Triage, prioritise and resolve Level 2 or 3 operational events.

  • Develop and continually improve technical support processes and tooling.

  • Collaborate and plan with other development managers to allocate work across the team and ensure individual skills are developed, and business requirements are met.

  • Facilitate technical discussions and manage conflict.

Your background:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, analytical individual with demonstrated leadership capabilities, a strong interest in people management and a learning mindset. You will have a strong understanding of the following:

  • Familiarity with a common scripting language, such as PowerShell, bash, Python, or csh

  • A good understanding of database principles and experience with Transact-SQL or similar

Ideally your skills and experience will also include:

  • Capital and Derivatives Markets domain knowledge, particularly with an asset manager or owner.

  • Working knowledge of C#, SSIS, JavaScript, HTML or similar

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking for the next step in their career to take ownership of a function. Your excellent communication skills, customer focus and resilience towards resolving complex issues will enable you to be successful in this role. To be considered for this opportunity, please send your CV to us by clicking Apply Now, or if you prefer to discuss aspects of the role first, please feel free to reach out to Sam Nowell on 09-5508558.

The Guardians encourages expressions of interest from a diverse applicant pool, including applicants interested in discussing flexible work options. Reasonable support will be provided to disabled applicants throughout the recruitment process.
